Lake Allatoona Fishing Report For May 16

This Lake Allatoona fishing guides report for stripers and hybrid bass has been brought to you exclusively by Robert Eidson of First Bite Guide Service, 770 827-6282. Lake Allatoona, Georgia email: eidson6260@comcast.net. www.firstbiteguideservice.com

Line sides fishing is good and the mid lake is producing the best right now by far. But there is starting to be good afternoon bite at the dam on live bait and umbrella rigs. Down lines are producing better then anything else right now. Shad, shiners and bream are all working. Just remember the bream have to be caught on a hook and line. I have caught fish as far as Allatoona Pass on the south end of the lake and as far north as Little River. But mid lake still seems to be the strongest bite going. There is a good night bite under the hydro glow light. Trolling is fair and you will find some fish schooling. The Mack Farr umbrella rig with 7, 1/2 ounce jigs have been working best for me. The top water bite is starting to show signs of life. The hybrids and white bass are busting top water right before dark on the north end of the island at Harbor town. Spoons and Rooster Tails are working best. We now offer night trips for crappie. So call for details 770 827-6282. This Lake Allatoona fishing guides report for striped and hybrid bass has been brought to you exclusively by Robert Eidson of First Bite Guide Service, 770 827-6282 . www.firstbiteguideservice.com Lake Allatoona, Georgia email: eidson6260@comcast.net.

Line-side fishing is good and will only get better now that the spawn is almost over. Not much has change since last week. The fish are back down out of the rivers, and are starting to group up, and should start to feed. There are fish from the mouth of the Etowah River to as far south as Allatoona Creek. All of the major creeks have fish in them right now. If you find the bait, you’ll find stripers and hybrids nearby. flat-lines in the morning and afternoon and down-lines at midday.

Trolling is Fair, the Mack Farr 3-arm umbrella rig has been producing best right now. Jig color doesn’t seem to matter, but speed is a factor. The best speed for me this we has been between 3.3 to3.5 miles per hour.

Remember the month of May is one of the best months for line-side fishing. We still have a few days open this month and we’re offering family trips starting at $250.00.

Lines-sides fishing is Fair right now. The cold front that we had earlier this week shut the bite down. Look for the bite to rebound quickly as the water warms back up. The spawn is all most over and the fish are coming back down out of the rivers to feed. And they should be grouping up soon . There are fish from the mouth of the Etowah Rive r and as far south as Allatoona Creek. All of your major creeks have fish in them right now. If you find the baitfish, you’ll find stripers and hybrids nearby. Flat-lines in the morning and afternoon and down-lines mid-day is the way to go.

Trolling is working really well right now. The mack Farr 3-arm umbrella rig has been producing best for me right now. Color doesn’t seem to matter, but speed is a factor. The best speed for me this week has been between 3.3- 3.5 miles per hour.

Line side fishing is great and the upper Etowah is without question the best bite on the lake. I got e-mails and phone calls from different anglers who have been wearing them out up there, anywhere from Fields Landing all the way up to the ball field in Canton. I have heard of some really good fish caught up there this week. Congratulations to Tim S. Tim caught a very nice striper up north this week that weight in at 34 pounds. But with the river run being so strong this year, so is the boat traffic. So with that being said, I decided to stay south of mid lake, and I’ve been doing very well. All of the main creeks are holding fish, and so are the beaches. The water temp is in the mid 60s so this is prime for top water. Free-lines, flat-lines and planer boards are working best. Top water is getting very good right at sun up and right at dark. A 3/8-ounce bucktail will get bit all most every time if you can get it to these busting fish. For you trollers, the Mack Farr u-rig bite is starting to pick up. A 3-arm loaded with 3/8-ounce jig will get your drags pulled. I’ve got just a few days left open for May, so call me before there all gone. And remember Kids under 10 years old fish for free with paying adults.( 2 kids max ). Line-side fishing is starting to really heat up. The upper Etowah is with out question the best bite on the lake. I got e-mails and phone calls from different anglers who have been wearing them out up there. Any where from Fields Landing all the way up to the ball field in Canton. I have seen pictures of some really good fish caught up there this week. Stripes well up in the 20’s and Hybrids around 10 pounds. But with the river run being so strong this year. So is the boat traffic. Even a strong river run like the one we got this year. There will only be about 30% of the fish up there. So with that being said I decided to stay south of mid lake. And have been doing very well.. All your main creek are holding fish. And so are your beaches. The water Temp is in the mid 60’s. And this is prime for top water. Line sides fishing is good. Guys the bite remains the same as last week change nothing. My clients have caught some really good fish this week. We have had a few over 20 lb’s this week With the biggest weighting 35 lb’s… The fish are scatter from southend to the northend of the lake including the rivers. The bite up the rivers is getting stronger each pasting day. They are still a few fish on the south end of the lake, but your best bet is up north. Mid lake fishermen should fish the mouths of the creeks. Flat-lines and planner boards have been producing numbers. But the down-line bite has been better for big fish. This is the time of year to pull BIG Baits for Big stripers. So don’t be afraid to use shad as big as 10-12 inches .

Trolling is really starting to improve. The fish are moving up in the water column and on the flats .And the Mack Farr u-rig is a GREAT way to catch these fish . I look for a great trolling bite come April….The Dugout Bait Store in Marietta just got a new shipment of Mack Farr u-rigs in. Give them a call for directions 770 428-7406

Lake Allatoona The River Run Begins

Line-sides The Striper and Hybrid Bite is GOOD. The bite slowed down a little last week do to the full moon. But has picked back up the past couple of days. The fish are starting to stage mid-lake and are getting ready to make the run up the river. The flats between Kellogg’s and Little River seem to be holding the bigger schools of fish. Look for the fish to start moving up the river any day now. But remember all of them do not go up the river. You can still catch good numbers of fish in the main lake this time of year on sanding points and beaches. But if you are after a Monster striper your best bet will be up the river. Cut baiting shad seems to be best when fishing the river. If you decide to stay on the main lake like me. Flat-lines and planner boards are working best. Remember to put your bait at least 50 behind your planner boards. This will improve your bites by 50%.

Trolling is really starting to improve. The fish are moving up in the water column and on the flats .And the Mack Farr u-rig is a GREAT way to catch these fish . We are catching some very nice ones to. This week we caught Hybrids weighting up to 10 lb’s. The striper bite is also good. Our biggest striper this week was a very nice 21lb fish. Mid lake has been very good this week. The fish are biting flat lines and Planner boards early and down lines after the sun comes up. The bite that we had at Bartow Carver a couple of weeks ago is back and may be the best on the lake….
