Lake Allatoona Fishing Guides Report For April 24
Line-sides Fishing is VERY GOOD….The bite is really starting to pick up. Earlier this week we fished mid-lake and did very well. Most of our catch mid-lake this week was Stripers. Later in the week I decided to fished on the south end of the lake. And my clients did very well on numbers again. But this time is was a mix bag of Stripers and Hybrids. But if you want a big fish you would be better off fishing mid-lake to the north-end ( Again Especially the river )…The fish are up in the water column and are hard to mark on your fish finder. Just ride the lake in til you see busting fish.. All you need to see is one fish. We stop at one single boil the other day and caught 15 fish… Guys spring is here and so are the fish. Weather you hire me or have your own boat please get the kids and get on the lake. Lake Allatoona is on fire go get them…
Crappie same as last week POOR..- The bite we had three weeks ago is gone. The rising water and the drop in temperatures has given these fish lock jar…I have talked to plenty of crappie anglers this week and none of them fair well this week. I think the spring bite is just about over for crappie. And they should be setting up on a summer pattern in the next month. And as far as I am concern it is my favorite way to crappie fish. At night under the Hydro Glow…Starting in May we will start running night trips for crappie, white bass, hybrids ans stripers. We will also offer night party boat trips as well. More details to come in the up coming weeks.
If you would like to book a trip please give us a call at 770 827-6282.
Lake Allatoona Fishing Guides Report For April 17
Line-sides Fishing Good but should be better. The lake right now is two feet above full pool and there is trash everywhere. The water temps have also down do to the rain we had earlier in the week. I look for the action to really heat up ( especially ) in the river in the next couple of weeks
Before the rains last Friday There where fish schooling all over the lake.. The top water bite was the best I have seen in months. Stripes, Hybrids and spots where busting all over the lake . The south end of the lake is the place to be for numbers. But if you want a big fish you would be better off fishing mid-lake to the north-end ( Again Especially the river )…. Numbers can also be found mid-lake as well. I really look for this bite to return in the next couple of weeks.
Finding the fish.
This is one of the only times of the year you don’t need your fish finder. These fish are up in the water column and are hard to mark on your fish finder. Just ride the lake in til you see busting fish.. All you need to see is one fish. We stop at one single boil the other day and caught 15 fish… Guys spring is here and so are the fish. Line sides fishing is Fair. This weeks weather has been crazy. The rain, snow, high winds and full moon has really shut the fishing down. And then add in high water and debris to the mix has made the fishing very challenge this week to say the least. The bite up the rivers has been very slow this week do to dropping temperatures but will pick back up in the next few days. . They are still a few fish on the south end of the lake, but your best bet is up north. Mid lake fishermen should fish mid lake in the mouth of the creeks where we have been getting the better fish and down lines seem to be working best.
Trollers are using the Mack Farr umbrella rig right now and the key speed right now is about 3.1 miles an hour and color does seem to matter.
The top water bite is hit and miss right now. Some days they are coming up in big schools and staying up for 30 minutes at a time. And then some days we will go all day without seeing a single fish bust the top. Look for the top water bite to really heat up when the water temp hits 70 degrees . April is one of the best Months for line sides on Allatoona get the kids and let’s go fishing. www.firstbiteguideservice.com
Crappie are everywhere in the creeks down lake. Fish in any of the shallows in the backs of the creeks. Troll or drift the backs of creeks and use minnows and bright Hal Flies. Bridges are holding pre spawn fish and at depths of less than 5 feet. Work tree lines, standing timber or brush and stump rows

Lines-sides fishing is Good right now. The cold front that we had earlier this week slowed the bite down. Look for the bite to rebound quickly as the water warms back up. The river bite is on hold right now. The river is flowing out of it’s banks and mudding. The bite wil pick back up as the water starts to clear. Right now your best chances to load the boat is mid-lake. The fish are schooling up from Kelloggs Creek to Stamp Creek. There is a great top water bite right at sun up. Ride the lake until you see busting fish. These fish will eat all most anything Flukes, Redfins, Sammies. Bucktails and spooks. There are fish from the mouth of the Etowah River and as far south as Allatoona Creek. All of your major creeks have fish in them right now. If you find the baitfish, you’ll find stripers and hybrids nearby. Flat-lines in the morning and afternoon and down-lines mid-day is the way to go.
Trolling is working really well right now. The mack Farr 3-arm umbrella rig has been producing best for me right now. Color doesn’t seem to matter, but speed is a factor. The best speed for me this week has been between 3.3- 3.5 miles per hour.
Remember the month April is one of the best months for line-side fishing. We still have a few days open this month and we’re offering family trips starting at $250.00.

Line side fishing is good. The bite up the river is getting stronger each pasting day. Just last week we got reports of two fish over 30 pounds being caught just north of Knox Bridge. With all the rain we have had in the past two weeks I look for a great bite up the river this spring. These fish can be caught on live shad as well as cut bait fished on the bottom. Chicken livers fished on the bottom will also work. They are still a few fish on the south end of the lake but your best bet is up north. Mid lake fishermen should fish the mouth of the creeks. We have been getting most of our fish free lining shad and jumbo shiners 50 feet behind the boat. Trollers are using the Mack Farr umbrella rig and doing fair. The key speed is about 3.1 miles an hour and color does seem to matter. Late March and April are two of the best Months for line sides on Allatoona get the kids and let’s go fishing.

Line side fishing is good and the big fish are starting to biting. The hybrid bite is still the best biting going and we are catching some very nice ones weighting up to 8 1/2 pounds. The striper bite is good. Our biggest striper this week was a very nice 26 pound striper. Mid lake has been very good this week. The fish are biting flat lines and planner boards early and down lines after the sun comes up. The bite that we had at Bartow Carver a couple of weeks ago is back and may be the best on the lake. Trolling has been with the Mack Farr umbrella rigs 120 feet behind the boat at 2.75 miles and hour. We are now booking trip to Carters for March and April. Even though I guide Allatoona 95% of the time, we know Carters Lake very well. My clients have held two lake records there in the past two years. Give me a call and let’s make it three. Line side fishing is fair. The cold front that came thought earlier in the week really gave the fish lock jaw. Finding the fish is easy right now getting them to bite is a different story. But hopefully the bite will pick back up soon with the warm weather we have coming our way. The fish are scatter from Little River to Clarks Creek. And not only are they scatter from one in of the lake to the other they are also scatter up and down in the water column. This week we have caught fish on flat lines, planner boards and down lines. And some of the fish we are catching on the down lines are as deep as 55 feet. Small trout and large shiners seem to be working as well as shad right now. Just make sure your hook size matches your bait. We still have a few days open for March give me a call at 770 827-6282 if you would like to book a trip.

Lines side fishing is Good. The fishing this week is the same as last week change nothing. Mid-lake is the place to be right now. Kellogg’s Creek up to Bartow Carver is loaded with Stripers, Hybrids and White bass. The live bait bite right now is great. Small trout fished on flat-lines and planner boards early morning and then again late afternoon is the best. Midday small trout and Large Shiners fished on down-lines right over the river channel is producing as well. Look for these fish to be suspended between 18-24 feet deep. The Dugout in Marietta just got a new shipment of trout of all sizes. The trolling bite is dead do to the stained water. Look for the umbrella rig bite to pick up as the water clears. Line side fishing is good. For stripers use big baits fished on planer boards have been producing some big stripers. Use big gizzards or big trout on planner boards and flat lines. Fish the back of the creeks on the south end for some nice fish. Up north stripers are biting in the rivers. Little River and the mouth of the Etowah in the Delta area have been producing. The key to fishing this part of the lake right now is clear water. If the water is muddy move to clear water. Go find the mud line and start fishing south. Hybrid fishing is good mid lake. Medium sizes shiners and thread fin shad are working. Look for these fish over the river channel between Bartow Carver and Clear Creek. Top water is limited to day break for about 20 minutes. Trolling has been very slow but look for it to pick back up as the water clears. I still have a few days open for Feb give me a call at 770 827-6282 to book your trip.
