Linesides: Fair to Good depending what day your there. Fishing has change a little since last week. The fish have moved out over the river channel. An are schooling in depths for 20 - 40 feet deep. And trolling seems to be your best bet right now. Live bait will also catch you a few fish. Down line your bait over the river channels between 20 40 feet deep. Make sure you use long leaders 6-8 feet is what I”m using on Allatoona right now. White bass - Small Hybrids. fishing is still the best bite on the lake. These fish are schooling on top from sun up to sun down… Just ride intil you find them. Mid-lake has been the best. A jr spook is working best for these little line-side. With the cools nights coming up fishing should really get good in the next couple of weeks.

Good. The live-bait bite is starting to fall off some because it’s hard to keep your shad alive, and the trolling bite is starting to pick up. We are catching 10 to 30 stripers and hybrids on a morning trip right now. Because dissolved oxygen is so low in the lake right now, all of the fish seem to be within eyesight of the dam. Concentrate your efforts on either arm within a mile of the dam. Anywhere from the mouth of Stamp Creek to Bethany Bridge should hold fish. Good places to look are Coopers Branch, Iron Hill and the Red Top Campground cove. Once you find the fish, start the morning fishing live shad downlined to 24 feet. This can be a good bite if you’re on feeding fish, but fresh baits every three or four minutes are necessary to keep lively shad on the line. Once this peters out, switch to trolling umbrella rigs. I have been having most of my success pulling nine 1/2-oz. white bucktails with chartreuse trailers about 110 feet behind the boat, which puts his rigs about 24 feet deep. Also keep your topwater baits ready in case any schooling fish come up. They’ll hit a popping cork, fluke or Sammy, but I prefers the biggest white Rooster Tail he can find. The secret to getting bit is to fish with light line (6-lb. test) and to retrieve your bait as fast as you can crank it in. In these conditions it’s important to get your fish back in the water quickly if you want to release it. Keep your camera ready because a quick release can mean the difference between a dead fish and one that swims away. We also suggested riding back over the area you just fished and keeping any floaters.

Decent The bite this week is the same as last weeks just a little on the slow side change nothing…. The summer bite is in full swing, and we are catching a ton of fish downlining and pulling umbrella rigs on the south end of the lake. The dissolved oxygen levels have plummeted up north, and the fish have all moved south to between Bartow-Carver and the dam. Check Clear, Stamp, McKaskey creeks and Cooper Branch on up to the Bethany Bridge area and into the Allatoona Creek Arm. The thermocline is starting to set up at about 28 feet, and we are catching all of our fish either downlining or trolling u-rigs between 18 - 28 feet. “Downlining a threadfin shad is absolutely the best bite on the lake,” with trollling running a close second “. But remember we are in the dog ” Days ” of summer and shad will die quickly on the line, so take a lot of bait or keep a bucket of shiners as a back-up.” They’re biting shiners about 25 percent as well as they’re hitting the threadfins, but you’ll need to match the size of your hook to the size of your bait or the fish won’t hit. For example, A size 6 Gamakatsu octopus on a medium shiner is a good match. When using smaller hooks, be sure to use quality hooks so the fish don’t straighten them out.

Linesides: Good !!!! The fishing this week is the same as last week change nothing…. The Trolling bite is starting to over take the live bait bite on Lake Allatoona. The dissolved oxygen level on Lake Allatoona is making live bait fishing tough. Shad have less then a five minute life span on a hook fish deeper then 20 feet right now. And the window of opportunity for catching numbers on live bait is less then and hour and a half right at sun up. This is the time of year where trollers rule, and will for the next two months. The key to good numbers in late summer is to be “universal”. And what I mean by this is to be open mined every-time you head to the lake. Live Bait, Umbrella Rigs, deep diving, crank baits, spoons, and lead-core will all work this time of year. But when you combine all of these techniques into one outing the rewards just may out weight you catch. To me there is nothing more gratifying then to catch Stripers on more then one technigue on any given outing……So remember guys this is the time of year you may have to throw the kichen sink at them. But if they are willing to eat it then throw it……lol.

Linesides - Great nothing has changed since my last report except the trolling bite may be a little better…. The down-line bite is in full swing and the Hybrids are just killing live bait right now. Shad is still out fishing shiners, but the shiner bite is probably the best I have seen all year. Mid-lake is the place to be right now. And fish can be caught in the mouths to half way back of all the creeks from Kellogg’s to as far south as Clark’s creek. But you best chances to loading the boat is mid-lake. The trolling bite is also starting to pick up. And it is hard to beat a Mack Farr 4 arm umbrella rig loaded with 9 1/2 oz jigs fished 100 feet out at 2.4 miles and hour. The top water bite is also starting to get good early and then again right before sun down in eye site of the dam……Fishing right now is as good as it gets on Lake Allatoona. Line sides fishing is great.Guys the summer pattern is in full swing right now. That means it is time for Down lines, U-rigs ( Mack Farr ) and down riggers. Shad are starting to hard to keep alive right now.. So make sure you carry a couple a Doz. shiners with you when you head to the water. The south end, mid-lake of the lake is by far the best bite on the lake right now. Live bait fished off of any main lake point right now will get you bit. Also the humps in the mouth of all the main creeks are holding fish right now. There is also a good evening bite at the dam.
Trolling . The trolling bite is great right now for big fish. I have had some really good fish this week pulling u-rigs near the mouth of Stamp Creek. The trolling bite is a little slower then the live bait bite. But seems to be producing bigger fish for me…

Linesides: Outstanding…. We are having 20- to 50-fish days catching hybrids from 2 1/2 to 6 pounds and the occasional striper up to 14 pounds. The river run was petering out in late May, and this month most of the fish will be on the main lake. Other than a schooling bite that happens two out of every three days, it’s all downlines and umbrella rigs. Look for schooling fish right before sunset mid lake, specifically around the island behind Harbortown. A popping-cork rig, Jr. Spook or white Rooster Tail will catch them. The rest of the day, pull U-rigs 100 feet back at 2.8 or 2.9 mph and cover a lot of water. When you hit on a big school, go back and drop downlines to them at 24 to 30 feet. The best downline baits have been threadfins or shiners, I have been pulling white bucktails with chartreuse trailers on his U-rigs. The north end can be hit or miss, but when it’s on it can be great. He said to look for fish at the Delta, in the mouths of Sweetwater Creek and Little River, at the “S” turns and at Gar Bay. At the south end of the lake, I have been spending all of his time from the dam back to the spillway, and he’s catching a lot of fish there. As a little bonus, there is plenty of bait to be had from the Little River Bridge to Blanket Creek, but you have to get there early.
