Lake Allatoona Fishing Guides Reports For June ( Week 4 )

This Lake Allatoona striper and hybrid report fishing report has been brought to you exclusively by Robert Eidson of First Bite Guide Service, 770 827-6282 www.firstbiteguideservice.com Lake Allatoona, Georgia email: eidson6260@comcast.net.

Linesides - Fishing this week has been outstanding…. The down-line bite is in full swing and the Hybrids are just killing live bait right now. Shad is still out fishing shiners, but the shiner bite is probably the best I have seen all year. Mid-lake is the place to be right now. And fish can be caught in the mouths to half way back of all the creeks from Kellogg’s to as far south as Clark’s creek. But you best chances to loading the boat is mid-lake.

The trolling bite is also starting to pick up. And it is hard to beat a Mack Farr 4 arm umbrella rig loaded with 9 1/2 oz jigs fished 100 feet out at 2.4 miles and hour.

The top water bite is also starting to get good early and then again right before sun down in eye site of the dam……Fishing right now is as good as it gets on Lake Allatoona. Give us a call at 770 827-6282 for your next family outing……Until then tights lines……..Firstbite…….

Line sides fishing is great.Guys the summer pattern is in full swing right now. That means it is time for Down lines, U-rigs ( Mack Farr ) and down riggers. Shad are starting to hard to keep alive right now.. So make sure you carry a couple a Doz. shiners with you when you head to the water. The south end, mid-lake of the lake is by far the best bite on the lake right now. Live bait fished off of any main lake point right now will get you bit. Also the humps in the mouth of all the main creeks are holding fish right now. There is also a good evening bite at the dam.

Trolling . The trolling bite is great right now for big fish. I have had some really good fish this week pulling u-rigs near the mouth of Stamp Creek. The trolling bite is a little slower then the live bait bite. But seems to be producing bigger fish for me…

Linesides: Outstanding…. We are having 20- to 50-fish days catching hybrids from 2 1/2 to 6 pounds and the occasional striper up to 14 pounds. The river run was petering out in late May, and this month most of the fish will be on the main lake. Other than a schooling bite that happens two out of every three days, it’s all downlines and umbrella rigs. Look for schooling fish right before sunset mid lake, specifically around the island behind Harbortown. A popping-cork rig, Jr. Spook or white Rooster Tail will catch them. The rest of the day, pull U-rigs 100 feet back at 2.8 or 2.9 mph and cover a lot of water. When you hit on a big school, go back and drop downlines to them at 24 to 30 feet. The best downline baits have been threadfins or shiners, I have been pulling white bucktails with chartreuse trailers on his U-rigs. The north end can be hit or miss, but when it’s on it can be great. He said to look for fish at the Delta, in the mouths of Sweetwater Creek and Little River, at the “S” turns and at Gar Bay. At the south end of the lake, I have been spending all of his time from the dam back to the spillway, and he’s catching a lot of fish there. As a little bonus, there is plenty of bait to be had from the Little River Bridge to Blanket Creek, but you have to get there early.

Line-sides, Good !!! The main lake bite is really starting to heat up and the summer patterns are only a week or two away. The top water bite is starting up and can be found almost anytime of the day from the S-Turns to the dam. The morning bite is very good. Shad fished on down-lines in the mouth of any creek or main lake point will get your line pulled. After the sun comes up the umbrella rigs seems to be working better then live bait. There is also a good afternoon bite from Kellogg’s to Bartow Carver. These top water line-sides will hit almost anything while schooling on top. The night bite is also starting to pick up. I did a trip on 5/24/11 and we boated four monsters 19, 22, 24, 37 lb stripers….All fish where release to fight another day…..We still have a few days open for June give me a call at 770 827-6282 if you would like to get into some of this great action…..

Line-sides, Fair !!!! The bite really slowed down this week do to, high winds, major drop in the temperatures and the full moon phase. The river bite is almost over, and should be completely over by next week. The flats at the mouth of Sweet-water Creek, S-Turns and Little River are all holding fish right at sun up and then again at sun set. We are also starting to see some sparatic top water action on the flats out in front of Kellogg’s Creek and also on the flats out in front of the beach at Galts Ferry.

The bite should really get good in the next couple of days. This cold front we just had really made them get lock jaw on us… Look for the top water bite to really heat up in the next couple of weeks. Popping corks with ” Red Roosters ” flies , Rooster-tails or a Jr Spook will all work well on these top water line-sides. After the suns comes up there is nothing better then downing live bait on the edge of the river channels for a mix bag of Stripers, Hybrids, Spots and Catfish in the same locations as mention up above. The south-end of the lake was also producing good numbers of fish before the cold front. There wasn’t nearly as much top water action, but the trolling bite seem to be better on the south end of the lake. The mouth’s of Clark and Stamp Creek and then again in Iron Hill seem to be best when fishing south..

Catching bait this year isn’t nearly as hard as the past two years. You still have to work for them, but if your willing to get up early and throw your tail off bait can be caught. On the North end of the lake bait can be caught from the bridge at Little River all the way up to Blanket Creek. And then again on the south-end of the Lake in Tanyard, Clarks, 75 Bridge - old 41 bridge and at the spillway. If your looking for big baits then you need to head to lake Acworth. Acworth is holding a ton of dollar bill size Gizzard shad this year.

I would also like to thank each and everyone of you that have sent my wifes family well wishes for her Mom Cynthia. Cynthia is in her final days and we are spending as much time with her as possible. The thoughs and prayers you guys have sent our family have been over whelming. So I thought I would return the favor and give you guys some of my more active bait holes. Thanks again for your thoughs and prayers in these trying times for our family…..

God Bless.

Excellent. The bite this week has been incredible. Tuesday May 10 we boated 61 Hybrids in the first two hours while hosting the ” Lets Play Hooky GON Giveaway Hosted By First Bite Guide Service “. The bite was so good we ran out of shad ( 105 ) at 830am. The river bite is still strong but is on the back side of the peak. The fish are starting to come back down out of the river and are starting to school up on the delta to Little River.. The bite on the Allatoona Creek arm is fantastic, and so is the mid-lake bite. “The river bite is in full swing right now, Be careful. If you don’t have a jon boat or a jet-boat, you can tear something up real quick.” Anglers are catching a lot of fish on cut shad and live shad fished on the bottom. Chicken livers don’t seem to be producing as well as they have in the past. Be careful up the river. Everyone is catching fish, but there are a ton of boats up there. The bite up the Allatoona River arm is also very good in places like Iron Hill, Clark Creek and Tanyard Creek. Wherever you are, the key is to find the shad. Robert said he is having 15- to 30-fish days mid-lake on main-lake humps and flats at Victoria Landing, the S turns and the flats at Harbortown. The downline bite is far outproducing the freeline bite, and the only bait to fish is shad. Start early on 14- to 20-foot flats, and move out toward the river channel as the sun gets up.

Linesides: “The upriver bite is off the charts right now. You can catch 40 or 50 2- to 5-lb. hybrids a day up the Etowah from Knox Bridge to the ballparks in Canton. Small bait is the key to this bite. Go with medium shiners or threadfins. Fish right on the bottom. Cutbait and chicken livers will also work. If you don’t want to get into the boat traffic up the river, Allatoona Creek also has a decent amount of fish in it. I have been catching bigger stripers and hybrids in Allatoona Creek, but there is no where near as many fish as up the river. They are hitting a little bigger bait, gizzards and threadfins on freelines and planer boards, than upriver. Make sure you have some type of topwater ready when you get bit. Bring the fish up to the boat, but don’t land it. Four or five others will follow it up, and you can get a double or triple by being quick with a topwater bait. Robert likes an X-Rap in the bone color. The Trolling bite is dead. You best bet right now is live bait. The bite is getting better and better with each pasting day. If you would like to get into some of this great action give me a call at 770 827-6282 to book a trip….

Lake Allatoona line side fishing is great. The river run has started and the bite up the river is great. There is also a good bite on the main lake as well. The spawn hasn’t reach it’s prime yet, but is getting close. So keep you eye on the river for the next 3 to 4 weeks. If you do not want to go up the river, the south and north ends of the lake is still holding a ton of hybrids. These fish are biting flat lines and planner boards in the morning and then down lines and Mack Farr umbrella rigs when the sun gets up. The umbrella rig bite is the best bite going. Look for the fish to be off main lake points and on the edge of the humps.
