Lines-sides fishing is Good !!!! The bite this week has been very good. The fish are really starting to feed and can be caught almost any where on the lake right now. There are fish from the mouth of the Etowah River to as far south as Allatoona Creek. I have had some good reports that the Stripers and Hybrids have started their spawn run up the Etowah and Little rivers…If the river isn’t your thing there are still plenty of fish on the main lake. All of your major creeks have fish in them right now. Kellogg’s, Tanyard, Clarks, Clear and Stamp Creeks are all holding fish right now.. If you find the baitfish, you’ll find stripers and hybrids nearby. Flat-lining shad, shiners and trout are working best early morning and then again late afternoon. After the sun comes up switch to down-lines. Trolling has been very slow the last few days…. We still have a few open day for April. Give me a call at 770 827-6282 for availability….

By 930 am change over to down-lines and u-rigs .. The spring run has started . The white have already started running up the river. And it want be long before the Hybrids and Stripers start their run as well… April is one of the best months for Stripers and Hybrids on Lake Allatoona. Line-sides- Good !!! Well fishing is starting to pick up on Allatoona. The south end of the lake is still holding fish. But not as many as weeks past. I caught fish this past week as far north as Kellogg’s Creek, and as far south as Clark’s Creek. The fish are still hitting flat line and planner boards best early morning. By 930am the u-rig bite seems to be best. With the water warming as fast as it is right now. Start looking for these fish to move north…. It is all most time for the spring run. Line sides fishing is good. The Dead Sea is starting to show signs of life. The fish are starting to school up and are scatter from southend to the northend of the lake including the rivers. The bite up the rivers should be on fire in the next two weeks. We are also catching goon numbers of line-sides on the south end of the lake ( Iron Hill, Clark Creek and around the Islands at Redtop ) has been really good for me this week, But your best bet in the up coming weeks will be up north. Mid lake fishermen should fish the mouths of the creeks. Flat-lines and planner boards have been producing numbers. But the down-line bite has been better for big fish. This is the time of year to pull BIG Baits for Big stripers. So don’t be afraid to use shad as big as 10-12 inches .
Trolling is really starting to improve. The fish are moving up in the water column and on the flats .And the Mack Farr u-rig is a GREAT way to catch these fish . I look for a great trolling bite come April…

Line side fishing is Fair The fishing this week is the same as last week change nothing.. The water is starting to warm and so is the fishing. The white bass are schooling on all the flats north of the S-Turns all the way up to Fields Landing. And can be caught in numbers on spoons and Roster Tails. The stripers and Hybrids are also starting to bite, they are scatter from one end of the lake to the other right now. With the south-end being best for big fish. But when they start to school up for the spring river run the north-end of the lake will be best for quality and quantity. Trout, shad and shiners fished on planner boards and flat lines in the back of the creeks, main lake pockets and the mouth of the creeks has been working best. Trolling is also starting to pick up. We are getting good reports that stripers and hybrids are being caught on umbrella rigs from Galts Ferry north to the S-Turns. We still have a few days open for spring break give me a call at 770 827-6282 for availability.

Line side fishing is Improving ! The water is starting to warm and so is the fishing. The white Bass are schooling on all the flats north of the S-Turns all the way up to Fields Landing. And can be caught in numbers on spoons and Roster-tails. The stripes and Hybrids are also starting to bite, they are scatter from one end of the lake to the other right now. But should start to school up in the next two weeks for the spring river run. Trout fished on planner boards and flat-lines in the back of the creeks and main lake pockets has been working best. Jerry Floyd of www.lakeallatoonafishing.net caught his personal best ( 24 1/2 lb Striper ) using this technique earlier this week.
Trolling is also starting to pick up. I have gotten some really good reports that stripes and Hybrids are being caught on umbrella rigs from Galts Ferry north to the S-Turns.
Top Water - We are starting to see some top water action in the morning but is very short and limited. The top water bite will improve as the water warms. Line side fishing is poor. Nothing has change since last week. but The lake is really starting to clear on the north-end from the S-Turns all the way to Knots Bridge. And then again south from Iron Hill to the dam. The main lake is still stain but is know where near as bad as it was last week. The shad kill seems to be all most over on the main lake. But there is still dying shad in the back of most south-end creeks. Fishing should get back to normal as soon as the lake level stabilizes and clears. The key to catching fish when the bite turns back on is to find clear water. The backs of the creeks like Kellogg’s Creek, Clear Creek, Stamp Creek, Clark Creek and Iron Hill will clear first and will be your best bet. Small baits trout, shiners and shad fished on planner boards and free lines will be your best bet. We are still getting reports of a few schools of Hybrids and Stripers busting top water right before dark at Bartow Carver beach. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. Trolling is still poor but should pick back up as the water clears. This was the worst Feb I can remember in my 45 years of fishing Lake Allatoona. Hopefully March 2010 will be remember as the best I have seen in 45 years…….

Line-sides, Poor. The fishing is still on the poor side, but the lake is starting to clear. The lake is still heavily stain but isn’t rolling mud like weeks past.. The shad kill seems to be over and fishing should get back to normal as soon as.the lake level stabilizes and clears. The key to catching fish when the bite turns back on is to find clear water. The backs of the creeks ( Kellogg’s, Clear, Stamp and Iron Hill ) will clear first and will be your best bet. Small baits trout, shiners and shad fished on planner boards and free-lines will be your best bet. We are still getting reports of a few schools of Hybrids and Stripers busting top water right before dark at Bartow Carver beach. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. Trolling is poor and until the lake clears up trolling isn’t worth the time or gas. This has been the worst Feb I can remember. Hopefully March will be better. Until the fishing picks back up on Lake Allatoona, we will be moving all of our trips to Lanier.

Striper and hybrid fishing is poor. With all the rain and snow we have had over the past two weeks the lake got with in 5 feet of summer full pool. The COE is releasing water all day and night now to get the lake level back down to winter pool level. The lake is dropping at a rate of a foot a day. The lake is still muddy and debris is everywhere. The shad kill is still going on but is starting to taper off. I look for the fishing to pick back up as soon as the level stabilizes. The key to catching fish when the bite turns back on is to find clear water. The backs of the creeks will clear first and will be your best bet. Small baits trout, shiners and shad fished on planner boards and free-lines will be your best bet. We did receive a report earlier this week that there are a few schools of Hybrids and Stripers busting top water right before dark at Bartow Carver beach. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. Trolling is poor and until the lake clears up trolling isn’t worth the time or gas. Until the fishing picks back up on Lake Allatoona, we will be moving all of our trips to Lanier and Carters Lakes.

Stripers: Brutal , The recent rains we have had has bought the lake up Another 6 feet in the last week. And is rolling mud-heavily from one end of the lake to the other. There are still dead shad on the lake but more sporadic then weeks past. I am looking for the shad kill to be completely finish in the next two weeks. Fishing should get back to nomal shortly after. The key to catching fish when the bite turns back on is to find clear water. The backs of the creeks will clear first and will be your best bet. Small baits trout, shiners and shad fished on planner boards and free-lines will be your best bet.
Trolling - Poor, Until the lake clears up trolling isn’t worth the time or gas…
Until the fishing picks back up on Lake Allatoona. I will be moving all of my trips to Lanier. We have also cancel all trips to Carters Lake do to the shad kill……..
